30 Moon Photos Like You Never Saw Before

During the full moon on March 19th 2011 the moon was only 221,565 miles (356,575 kilometers) away. The closest it’s been in almost 20 years. It appeared 14 percent bigger and 30% brighter than usual on that particular day. This got us wondering, how big does the moon look in photographs. When we looked for some amazing photographs taken of our earth’s only natural satellite, we were amazed by the amount of photographs taken of moon. Some of these photos were simply just gorgeous. Then our concentration changed from BIG moon to beautiful photos of the moon.

    Maybe you folks should check your facts, or perhaps stop trolling and go outside once in a while. The moon does have an elliptical orbit, and was in fact closer to the Earth than usual. http://www.moonconnection.com/apogee_perigee.phtml

  5. Umm, yeah the moon is continually moving AWAY from the earth and does not have an elliptical orbit.

    Therefore, the moon will never be closer to earth than in any other day in history.

  6. Yes, only one of those photos seems to be real or not manipulated. The rest look ridiculously fake.

  7. I have never seen so many digitally “pasted” moons in nearly as many shots. Sometimes less use of photoshop can be better.
