Selective Coloring: 50 Beautiful Photographs
Selective coloring is a wonderful technique of making a select area of a photograph colorful. Rest of the photograph is turned into a black and white picture. Selective coloring is a post processing technique which means that this technique is applied only on photographs that are already taken.
Selective coloring is usually done by turning an entire photograph into a black and white picture with the exception of the areas which the photographer wants to keep colored. This effect is attained by using layers and masks in most modern image editing software like PhotoShop, GIMP and SilverFast. This technique of turning some areas of black and white photographs into color is especially useful when you want to draw viewers attention to a particular area in the image, and not distract him/her with other content of the photograph. Small colorful areas in an otherwise monochrome image immediately draw the viewer’s eye.
In this post, we have showcased beautiful, stunning and awe-inspiring examples of selective coloring photography. These photos show the power of combining a little bit of color to otherwise black and white photographs.

Thanks for sharing the nice post with me, an girl who firmly follows the fashion trend, It really brings me some fresh feelings with addtional insights into today’s world.
These are 50 magnificently poorly executed examples of an overused and horribly outdated technique. Good job suffering through this and collecting samples of what not to do, as a warning to the rest of the world.
Wow. What a hideous gallery. I’m amazed that people still think there is something redeeming about selective coloring.
Awesome shots!
Dreadful. Who doesn’t look at these and *immediately* think “they’ve done that selective colour thing”? Maybe fine for ramming a point home in editorial work, but beyond that I really don’t see the point.
thank you for the great pictures. really enjoyed them
This is such a great collection of selective color. The awesome thing is the very first photo is mine. Neat. Thanks!
